Lachlan Barrett
Solicitor
Lachlan brings an empathetic and client-focused approach to his work as a solicitor, striving to enable access to justice whilst achieving the strongest possible legal outcomes. A skilled negotiator and strong advocate for justice, Lachlan regularly appears in Courts across Gippsland and in the eastern suburbs of Metropolitan Melbourne. Lachlan practices in a variety of areas, some including Crime, Intervention Orders, Victims of Crime Compensation.
Lachlan graduated from Monash University in 2022, attaining a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Batchelor of Arts. Upon completion of his studies, Lachlan spent a gap year travelling extensively across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and North and Central America, as well as undertaking volunteer work at a community legal clinic. This period provided Lachlan with a depth of knowledge and understanding with respect to diverse cultures, along with the common and different challenges that communities across the world face, both legally and otherwise.
Returning to Australia, Lachlan commenced working as a Clerk of Courts, gaining valuable insights into the inner workings of the justice system from some of Victoria’s most experienced and esteemed Magistrates. Whilst working at the Courts, Lachlan undertook his Practical Legal Training part-time with the College of Law, further strengthening his advocacy skills. On his admission to legal practice in 2024, Lachlan was inspired to utilise his unique blend of professional skills and experience in the Gippsland region, relocating with his wife from where he grew up in the eastern suburbs of metropolitan Melbourne.
Outside of work, Lachlan is a passionate Brisbane Lions supporter who never misses a game, a dedication only matched by his love for test cricket come summer. He is a keen recreational runner and a lover of all things outdoors, with weekends often finding him hiking, surfing, kayaking, or enjoying a round of golf.
